Dazzle Caddy it's here! (finally)

Ok so I have been telling you it was coming.

When I got from our family trip (yep warm sands and beautiful Caribbean nights).

I had several boxes waiting for me! Yea!!!

So now that I have gotten to actually get my hands on the Dazzle Caddy

I wanted to share it with you.

The company (Best Craft Organizers) hands down does better photo's than I do, but I wanted you to see what they look like at my house, don't you just love my brown living room carpet!

Made a label sheet
using 2700-OPost-it brand
120 to a sheet - 3/4" round
with regular stickle, ice,
and distress you can see
I used almost the whole
sheet with no duplicate item #'s
I brought home all the Stickles
from my store so I could replace
any empties I had, but the rest
are going back and I have
a shopping list!

Printed the

from the
Ranger website
(I know but yellow
is what I had on hand,
white would be better)

The Dazzle Caddy holds 10 bottles - I got 100+4 bottles in the ArtBin and the lid snaps down so they stay very well. I would use the DC lids if the ArtBid isn't full so I could put other things in there also. But if you have all the colors I would not use the lids on the DC. With the lid on the DazzleCaddy's fits but I liked mine best without the lids on the DazzleCaddy's.

Flip Pal Mobile Scanner

Last month for my birthday my wonderful sister gave me a Flip Pal. She knows how much of a tools and gadget gal I am. Matt at Crafters Nook had them in his booth at the CKC scrapbook show we were at.

This is a great little addition to my digital supplies. I love that I can take off the cover and scan bulky or 3D things. The only thing I didn't like was the USB adapter cap is like so many I have lost in the past.

BUT I fixed it! I have made USB cap lanyards for several years SO here is the lanyard I made for my FlipPal. (ButtonCharms are another NEW fun thing I am doing, but check back later for more about them!)

Next .... I want to make my own Skin using printable vinyl to protect the top, no really just to fancy it up!

Next trip to a craft store and I'll have some to try out.

Here is what I deciede to do with my RackIt 12 x 12 hanging file folders. I really like them and that you an see the paper and easily get it. If you like verticle scrapbook organizing these ae great.

Drawer with in Papershelves

I was working with a customer who wanted to organize elements and paper. Someone else might find the setup helpful so I am posting it here. After Tammy gets her triple set up hopefully she will share pictures.

I am useing my Hutch, which I have turned into a shelf on the wall since I didn't want my desk to be so enclosed.

First - paper shelves work best on a 1 pin tilt so paper stays forward on the shelf and easy to see and use. So the top front hole needs no pin and the bottom rear needs no pin.
Second - when I put a drawer in the mist of paper shelves I prefer to use a rail on top to secure the drawer and for the papershelf to rest on.

RackIt to the rescue!
I love this new Hanging Folder option!

If you were at the Mega Meet in MI,

you probably saw this displayed on the Best Craft Organizer Double Stackable in our booth. It was a new product sent in to me with the Ribbon Dispensers for the show.

After checking at Office Depot and Archivers for 12 x 12 hanging folders I mounted this on the Double Stackable to maximize a footprint of scrapbook storage.

I found that on a Double Stackable you can mount 4 sets - thats 21x4=84 hanging files! WOW!

The Double Stackable is 14x14, then add 6" on each side for a 26" footprint.

So when I got home with a couple of these....

I was off to experiment in Organization!

Close at hand was a Organized Crafter Single.

I had a few 12 x 12 folders, but inspiration made me try the standard green letter hanging file folders we had in the office and guess what.... THEY WORK GREAT! Since you are mounting the RackIt you deciede how far apart to mount them based on the size of your folders.

This OC Single is 24" tall x 14" wide. The Rackit adds 6" to the width. If you mount one on each side you have a a footprint of 26".

This one would hold 42 hanging files, with 5-3.5" drawers and 1-1" drawer for everything else and rolls!

Ok so then I had to keep going and so I rolled in the Double Stackable from my craft room.

This BCO Double is 54" tall x 14" wide. The Rackit adds 6" to the width. If you mount one on each side you have a a footprint of 66".

This one would hold 84 hanging files, with any assortment of drawers in the 38 spaces for drawers for everything else and it still rolls!

NOTE: not all file holders are the same!
Deceide which style folder you like and stick with it.

Ok so I ran out of the hanging files and my sweet hubby did put his foot down to me taking them out of the household file cabinet :( .

Off to Staples I went and bought a box of standard letter hanging files. I got the green ones with metal hangers because they were $6.99/box25 and I had a $3off coupon. These were the lowest cost ones they had and since I'm still experimenting it was a good start.

So is there anyone out there who wants to use hanging file folders for scrapbook paper?
What I found in hanging file folders:
Iris, Inc 12 x 12 Inch Hanging File Folders fits in the Handy Scrapbook Organizer.
Cropper Hopper 12 x 12 Hanging File Folders fits in the Cropper Hopper Hanging File Trolley.
I found the Cropper Hopper hanging files at Archivers. Online it says Walmart will have the 12 x 12 cropper hopper files, but I haven't been able to find them yet.

Standard size boxes or frames were just to narrow for 12 x 12 use.

At Office Depot

I found "Really Useful Boxes® " 32L Approx. $21.99
Plastic Storage Box, with 5 hanging files. 12"H x 14"W x 19"D,
You can get more hanging files for approx.$7.99 / 5 pack (1.69ea.)

PortaInk inserts

While I was visiting Heartfelt Creations in Goshen IN, I discovered that they needed pad inserts in their PortaInk's. They were frustrated as I would be with short pads not being easy to get out. So I made them pad inserts out of 12 x 12 cardstock. No more frustration with getting their ink pads out of the PortaInk!

Sometimes you just need a little spacer!

The plastic pad inserts from Best Craft Organizers (the makers of PortaInk) are great since they lock into the unit and don’t come out. But… sometimes they are out of stock or sometimes your needs change.

Here is how I made inserts for the PortaInk out of cardstock.

Tools: ruler, trimmer, scor-pal, 1- 12” x 12’ cardstock (or using scraps any 2-3”wide x 5.25 long) and glue or tape.

With trimmer CUT

• 1 - 12 x 12 cardstock
into 4 strips 3” wide x 12” long
• Cut each 3 x 12 strip in half
to get 3” wide x 6” long
• Cut each 3 x 6” strip to 5.25” long

With Scor-pal

• Score on the 2.” mark
• Score on the 3” mark
• Score on the 4.5” mark

• Now flip paper over and line up the left edge

at the 1.5”mark and Score at the 6” mark

• Fold on score lines and tape or glue it shut

• Slide it into an ink pad slot

• Insert pad.

There are paper inserts in left side, and the right side had ink pads
pushed all the way back to show why you need inserts for short pads.

With the inserts behind the ink pads they are all easy to get out.

Left side has inserts, Right does not with inserts.

my Miche bags new straps!

While it's subzero out I made the strap extensions I've wanted for my Miche Bag. The chain strap just didn't do it for me so I wanted a a beaded extension. My Miche gal got me extra connectors. I'm happy with it so far, now to use and test the crimping job I did. I did the black and white to go with most covers with the purple to go with espically 2 covers I have.

Ribbon Storage Really Useful Box 9L

This Really Useul Box holds lots of the ribbon dispensers - great for the Ribbon Collector's!!
This box was referred to me by customer Laura SC. in Rochester NH
Great Big Ribbon Storage 1080 - 2160 yards (yes YARDS not feet) in a 15"x11"x6" space!

I found mine at Office Depot - figured I can get 45 dispensers in it. I like that the handle locks down and keeps the snug in the box.

I will be testing out a few other options as well in the next weeks.

Sarah has finished her Nail Tech class and now we have Konad Stamp on Nails products available for sale at A Collective Gathering in Potter Nebraska.

Here are my August nails Sarah did before I went to CKC in Valley Forge. It is Shellac polish, set with a UV light, and black stripes at the top and white flowers useing IP ??? stamp on nails by konad for designs.

Yes these are acrylic nails,
and longer than I would usually do,
but with the shellac polish I am
happy to say that I didn't
bust any while I was at work.

I have now removed them,
she wants to practice with
backscratchers before
she goes back to CSC
the end of the month.

my iphone's new look

For my iphone at christmas I got the Otter Defender because well face it chances are that I would drop it. I'd need protection for it.
But it came in limited colors and my sister had the same case so....

Using some ink I fixed it!
Time: 1/2 hr.
It drys really fast.

Now I can tell which one is mine!

What do you do for grown up kids on Easter? Well I spent the day Friday makeing something for them each. Two of the Three came home for the weekend. Kevin brought a friend from JWU. So I made them all a Easter "basket" out of cute cups.

I used:
- Design Studio w.Plantin Schoolbook
- oracal 651 so that they should go thru the dishwasher
- tissue and candy.

For Mike, since he didn't come home this weekend but will be home next weekend for the Expo - I made him a T-Shirt... I wanted to test out the various colors of the heat transfer material and MTC with various fonts. I liked how it turned out. Check out the great vinyl chart from cleversomeday

at CHA Jan 24-27 Best Craft introduced the Ribbon Spooler and Dispenser to the retail stores. It was a big hit. Even if we were in row one as a new exhibitor, and a long way from most of the scrapbooking exhibitors.

My son Mike helped demo at the Super Show before CHA, we provided the demo for the Best Ribbon Spooler & Dispenser in Scrapbook Corner's Booth - they sold out before the show was over.

Here are some things I like about this system:
-- up to about 4 yards of ribbon fit in each compartment, so thats 24 yards of ribbon is a small space.
-- you can spool about 8 yards into a bobbin and use a scrapbook gluedot to keep it together, better than a pin (which I'd be bound to stick myself with and bleed) or tape.

I've been craftin while I'm home for Nov & Dec. It started with cleaning out the craft room before Thanksgiving.... and I found the glass photo ornment stuff all in a box from 3 years ago! So I got it out and made some for 2 local craft shows. I also figuted out how to have my Cricut cut the circles for me. My friends and family that have photos online are always great to use for my samples - so check them out! These are double sided, but glass is hard to take photos of!

Well I am done jetting to shows for this year so now it is time to do some holiday stuff. I love doing things with photos. Glass Ornaments, Jewelry, Plates, Balloons to mention the one's I've done in the past. I'm off this week for a Scrapbook Expo in California, and since it is cold, windy and threating snow in Nebraska my bones (healed broken wrist of 3 years ago and a wrenched shoulder from 3 weeks ago) are looking forward to warmer weather. Usually fall and winter don't bother me so much... must be a sign!

Learning something new by mistake can be a good thing sometimes. With the Little Scrapbook Windows Jewelry piece I was creating this week, I found that I can use a suede paper backing instead of haveing the resin next to my skin. I am experimenting with the suede fabric back on the pendants now.

I have learned what I like, and what I could improve on, but want to do about 20 more samples pieces so I am looking for help - from others that would like to submit a page or photo that I can make into a sample piece of jewelry. Balloons on my inkjet printer

I'm such a sucker for digi-crafts! I love making crafty things with the computer mostly now, so digital printed balloons at home was intrugeing for me. I ordered a minimum case and have made like 20 for graduation decorations this year. I LOVE IT! Balloon Page is here I used the companies free program, it worked but I had to align the printer with X-Y points each time. Since I wanted to use my scrappy clipart and since I wanted so many for graduation I made a template .png that works for all 3 shapes so I could use other software to make these. My favorite digi-scrap is still Memory Mixer2. I inserted the png template, and made up all the balloons, saved them as jpg's 1200x1200. I used MSWord for printing My printer is picky about paper loading, I needed the paper size to be 8.25 x 13, but I also made a .doc layout that all I had to do was drop in the new jpg for each balloon I made in MM2. It was really easy to do. Balloons come in a 3 pack - Heart, Star, Round - comes with 3 straws, 3 two-part clips, 3 inserts to blow up balloon. - Sorry no choice in color - it come with one purple, one orange, one red - order them on my website store or ebay store. Currently all I have are the 7" size which are cute in arrangements. They do make 11" which need a wide printer (which I have) but since I have to order alot I am looking for any other digi-scrappers that may be interested in splitting the min case order. HS graduation #2 down...

Well graduation is over for another year...and I did get all the projects and the house cleaned up!

The custom here is to have an open house with supper for everyone who come out so we did BBQ sandwiches, beans and cake. Cold day so everyone was inside. Some coe for a few minutes some come and stay to visit.

I made 7" photo ballons for several of the graduates, for my son Kevin I did several as table deco.

MM - LT album template is here instructions here I like to use MM2 do do mine. But you can download the folder and jst keep the png imgs and use them in your favorite program. No I do not know how to make it unzip into MM.. yet, but unzip the folder and move the whole folder to C:\Program Files\MemoryMixer\Components\Themes\Designers\Square it should then show up under quickmixes. - still working on how to do this right.

Well I just opened my box that came today and wanted to share! Most of you already know I do digi-gifts.... Here is the plate I made from the entry picture of Kevin's dessert. I also always make myself and my mom a graduation platter with all the school pictures. On Kevin's I used a scan of a custom paper I had made in school colors with the mascot (coyotes) I used Memory Mixer2 in landscape to design the layout for this project.

it was a LONG trip!

My DH Jim and I did go to the JWU competition in FLL, but since flights looked good 2 weeks prior we decieded to nonRev (take advantage of our parent pass from Mike and fly free). Ok looked good until the American Airlines thing... and flights became a challange! We were tring to do the red-eye to Atlanta then am into FortLauderdale to meet Kevin... well that didn't work but we did get out of CoSprings friday morning. We all met up friday night at the hotel - in time for supper! Sunday the trials and triblations began.... we were listed on a 6am flight so the shuttle from the hotel left at 4:30am (remember we are used to mountian time not eastern time). Kevin was back in Denver and on his way home to NE by 10am! Yea! Jim & I were however...stuck with about 35 other non-rev's tring to get out of Fort Lauderdale. We tried every flight, I even tried to buy tickets..no go everything was full. Finally in the late afternoon we took the really LONG way west! .... We went from Fort Lauderdale to Boston (kinda the wrong direction..) ......then Boston to LasVegas, spent the night in the airport .......then LasVegas 6am to Salt Lake City .........then SLC to Denver (however Lou stayed in SLC to go to ScrapbookUSA) TIP... sometimes just buying a ticket is Soooo worthwhile!

My son Kevin entered and won a place among the top 10 entries in the 19th Annual National Chef of the Year competition

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – April 12, 2008 – The results are in. Out of more than 700 applicants nation-wide 20 students were asked to come to Johnson & Wales University (JWU)’s North Miami Campus to compete in its 19th Annual National Chef of the Year competition on April 12.

10 students competed in the dinner category and 10 competed in the dessert category. Students had three hours to prepare their recipes for a panel of judges for the chance to win scholarship money to JWU.

He didn't come come in the top 3 awards, but he was one of the seven finalists, who won a $3,500 scholarship to JWU, renewable for up to four years.
